¿De quién son las playas? Who do the beaches belong to? invites audiences of all ages to reflect on beach conservation for both the community and wildlife. Garwin and Josarie narrate the story with props, sounds and art to engage all participants. Grano de arena PR’s first publication and storytelling stage are designed with images, textures and colors that connect with life in the Caribbean archipelago. The text is bilingual (English and Spanish) and 100% human made.
Grano de arena PR will model the call and response tradition of Puerto Rican Plena music, encouraging participants to engage in song, movement, and lyrics creation. Plena, aka “the people’s newspaper,” is a musical genre where individual and collective stories are shared, accompanied by the beat of hand drums. Afterwards, participants will be invited to transform their experience into an art object by playing and exploring with a variety of materials.
